As a college admissions officer for nineteen years, Susan served as Assistant Director of Admission for Boston University, in charge of the West Coast region. She interviewed hundreds of students, read thousands of applications and made admission decisions for applicants in a variety of majors from the liberal arts, to engineering, to the accelerated medical program. After returning home to the Bay Area, Susan joined Notre Dame de Namur University as the Associate Director of Admission, where she worked in all aspects of admissions including transfer students and athletes.
After serving in college admissions, Susan switched sides of the desk and joined Kehillah Jewish High School in Palo Alto as the Director of College Counseling. She has counseled hundreds of students and their families through the college search and application journey--laughing, crying, and celebrating with them!
Susan has served on committees and volunteered for national (NACAC), regional (WACAC), and local college admissions counseling organizations. She has been a featured speaker on topics including Admissions, Financial Aid, Transfer Process, Learning Differences, Honors Colleges, Western University Exchange, Essay Writing, Extracurricular Activities, and other areas of interest.
Born and raised in San Francisco, Susan headed east for college and earned her undergraduate degree from University of Massachusetts, and her Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration and Pupil Personal from Boston College. As a fifth generation San Franciscan, she returned to the Bay Area and settled in San Mateo. Susan and her husband David have two sons, who graduated from Aragon High School and are now university students.
Susan's experience as an admissions professional, a high school counselor and as a parent give her unique insight into the college search and application process. She considers it an honor to be invited to join students and their families on this exciting college journey.
